Rubber Technologist Wanted for Growing Team - April 2017


Due to growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Rubber Technologist / Senior Technologist to join the technical team of a highly successful, specialist rubber compounding business. The company is seeking a first class technologist who understands compounding, has extensive experience of downstream operations, particularly moulding. In addition the role will enjoy working with customers to meet their compounding needs, and who can also understand and develop solutions to their problems and new application requirements.   


Working closely with technical management and senior technologists, key responsibilities will include:


Prompt support and response to customer technical enquiries

Coordination of provision of compound information to ensure correct manufacturing processes for customers

Development of compound formulae to meet customer specifications

Provision of technical input to major customer development projects

Liaise with sales and customer service teams to maximise business opportunities

Write /Contribute to case studies/ papers for presentation at industry events and conferences


The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, qualifications and attributes:

A degree in polymer technology or an appropriate science subject

Extensive experience of rubber moulding for a wide range of applications, knowledge of mould design and a genuine interest in processability

A sound understanding of rubber compounding, and the ability to develop compound formulations. The company has substantial in-house expertise in compounding, so prior knowledge of the full range of heat curable elastomers is not necessary as further training can be provided

Ability to respond accurately and effectively to technical support enquiries, visiting customer premises when required

Understanding of relevant legislation (REACH etc)
